Gander Mountain Fishing Rods.

Featured Replies

I went to a Gander Mountain yesterday to buy a new rain suit, something light ( Frogg Toggs ) and some Fat Ika's. I looked at the fishing rods they had and on the rack beside the G. Loomis they had a Gander Mountain brand, in which I cannot remember the name but, they were only 119.00 dollars and the spinning rods seemed to be pretty sweet to me. I really liked the actions. Seems they were all fast to X fast. I think they would be a great smallie rod. I just thought I would give a heads up to anyone looking for a inexpensive rod that seems pretty good, at least as far as I could tell in the store. :o

I have two Guide Series rods, and I'm very pleased with them. I always talk to the guy that does the purchasing for my Gander and he told me that most of the Guide Series rods are made by St. Croix.

They are very nice rods for the money.

St. Croix huh? Cool. I just might have to buy one and give her a whirl. Like I said I really liked the action in the store for a smallie rod and you can't beat 119.00. The guy at Gander told me that for another five bucks they will give these rods a lifetime guarantee with no questions asked. Not too shabby if this is true.

I had the store manager in the Gander Mountain in Peoria tell me the same thing. Most of the Guide rods are made by St Croix, and the lifetime warrant an extra ten or fifteen bucks. The rods felt like a great deal for the money. At least in the store they did. The only reason I didn't get any was because I was on a self-imposed rod/reel buying hiatus.

Cheers,

I have a 7' MH E-glass crankbait rod that is a Gander Mountain brand rod, if memory serves me correcty I only paid like $55.

It's a nice rod and my primary one for deep cranking and heavier cranks.

Geez i went on their site WHY DO THEY BOTHER HAVING ONE there is no info to be had about thier rods on it?????????????

I believe gander mountain does not put any product info (about the products they sell in-store) on thier website because of an agreement they have with bass pro or cabelas about online sales.

The Gander Mountain Advantage Crankbait rod is $30.  A really good price for a pretty good rod.  I have many people compare it to the st. croix glass rods, and it is even lighter.  But no, the Gander Mountain brand rods are not made by St. Croix.  They are made by a few different companies who don't put out their own brand's products but simply make house brand products for stores.
