reel help

Featured Replies

Hey what is the difference in the Bearings, i am getting a new reel and i am new to fishing in away. i have the choice of 3+1 or 4+1 what is the difference?

Name the reels. The quality of the bearings is more important than the number of bearings, IMO. The old Shimano Curados were only 4+1, but they were good bearings.

Generally the more bearings the smoother the reel with be.  But i agree with hi_Steel_basser... quality is more important some brands such as shimano make more efficient and smooth bearings then say zebco.

ok one more ?, like i said i am new to fishing so i was wondering what would be best for me the 6.2:1 or the 5.2:1 or is it all just preference?

If you are using it to throw cranks go with the lower 5.2:1 otherwise the 6 to 1 is great
