Flippin reel

Featured Replies

To start off with; I am a low budget kind of guy. I dont ever myself spending over $300 for a combo.

I am looking for a high capacity reel to put either 30-50 lb braid or 17-25 lb florocarbon/mono to flip with.

Only guidlines:

Its got to last me for a while.

Its got to hold a good bit of line.

Its got to be At LEAST 6.4.1

Its got to be be at more $130

thanks for any help you can provide me with!

If your gonna be flippin, why do you need a reel with a big line capacity?  I would go with a revo s, or a shimano citica.  Both are great reels in your price range.

Good luck.

Unless you are flipping 90%-%100 of the time. Check out a Daiwa Procaster X.not the new crap, these have an aluminum frame and are built solid...They dont make them anymore but there are a few around on EBAY got great prices. Everything you need in a good flipping reel for low $. I have some w/ braid on them and have really abused them and they keep on ticking. I have a Team Daiwa 150p that retails for $100 that i really like too.

$100 ABu Garcia revos are awesome.

BPS extreme reels are nice when you get them around $40 bucks. Just oil them before fishing. Been impressed with one I bought out of the outlet of the BPS in Macon.

Shimano citicas 100 are sweet and light for the $, but really low line capacity.

if you are flipping you do not need line capacity.  if you get a 100 size citica it will hold all you need of 50# braid.

and if you have a "low capacity" spool, it will be lighter and therefore you will be able to cast and pitch farther if you ever need to

What brands do you like?  I would go with a Citica or an accurist model.  But like they said, you dont need huge line capacity.  You might be pitching 20 yards at most.
