Browning Midas bc reel.  PLEASE HELP

Featured Replies

I just purchased the Browning Midas 6.4:1 bc reel and it has been nothing but problems.  I have it on a 6'6" Woo Daves MH trigger rod that I primarily use for worm'n.  I have set the friction control and the braking system every which way I can think of, and it still backlashes mid cast.  I have even put every brake on as well as the friction control and still get a backlash.  Is it me, or is the brake system messed up?  I have Shimano Curado 200B5 that I can cast with no problem.  Does anyone own a Browning, or couldvpossibly give me some hints.

Return it and get a Shimano, Daiwa, or ABU Garcia. ;)

If you purchased the reel new, I'm assuming you got it from Bass Pro Shop.  Return it and follow Burley's advice above.

I'm surprised you are having trouble with the reel. I purchased a Browning Citori combo that BPS had on sale at Thanksgiving. I figured it would be a good set-up for my grandson to learn baitcasting. After getting it home I tested it in my canal and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I even took a few casts into a mild breeze with no backlashes.

I use Abu Garcia exclusively, but for the price of the Citori, think it is a pretty decent reel. Maybe you got a faulty one. I would take it back for a replacement.

Good Luck,

Falcon

Yeah, I've pretty much come to the same conclusion.  I'll return it and get another Shimano.  Thanks for your input guys.
