Wacky Rigging....My Bread & Butter

Featured Replies

Since I learned how to skip worms under pontoon boats & docks this summer, wacky rigging a Senko, Yum Dinger style worms have been my bread & butter lately. I've been wanting to try other soft plastics, skipping them under but a 3/4/5" Senko style worm works too good to spoil a good thing. Only thing is as you all know Senkos don't last long even after one fish. As soon as the bass shakes its head that worm is flying off the hook. I wouldn't mind this if I was catching bigger bass most of the time. But as usual, I get the small ones first & that lucky day like today, I get a much better bass.

4 lbs, 17.5" LM bass. I did pretty good today, 3 SM bass & 7 LM bass & the 4 lber made my day! Funny thing is I used a knockoff Senko worm that I don't even remember who makes it, that it lasted 4 bass before it went flying off the hook. Yum Dingers last a little bit longer & you do get more worms than you do w/ Senkos & they are cheaper.

I still haven't found a Senko style worm that will last after a few fish....'cept the knockoff one that I used to land the 4 lber. I just don't remember who made it...but if I do recall it was in a closeout bin, so I reckon that the company doesn't even exsist anymore.

I have to break out of the "bread & butter" of a wacky rigged Senko & try a Fat Ika, tube, frog, trick worm, etc.

What do you guys use for skipping soft plastic? How about hard plastic lures????

You need to get you a wacky rig tool from BPS or eBay.  It is a tube that slips over the senko that has o-rings on it.  You then slip the o-ring on the senko.  Put your hook through the o-ring and fish.  I will get at least 5-7 fish, sometimes 10 or more per senko.

That's right

I have found a better and cheaper alternative to the o ring for wacky rigging. Just buy a bag of black zip ties and use them u can make the as tight as you want and a bag costs under 5 dollars for over 100. Compared to using o rings i have lost far fewer senkos.

Good tip!!!

$5 for 200 o-rings on ebay. Also a standard pen cap works just fine for rigging o-rings onto baits. No reason to buy a tool.

I don't use a tool either but I just threw that out there for people that may want to.

Don't even use O-rings.

Just a plain ole wacky rig.
