You don't really need a lot of line when bass fishing, so line capacity is not an issue. I'd suggest trying the different reels on the rod you intend to use to see what feels good. Me, I'd get the one with the largest diameter spool, that does not over balance the rod. The larger spool diameter will give you the less line problems and better casting performance.

Cheers,

Agree with ghoti. All other things equal, a larger spool offers better line performance.

I just bought an 8030MG to put on a new shaky head rod that I built.  In my opinion it is plenty big enough for bass fishing, it is not a little tiny trout reel.  The spool is a little smaller than the 8035, but I spooled it up with 15lb/4lb dia Power Pro braided line, it casts like a dream and I didn't have any line issues.  It is very, very smooth and has the best bail open/close action of any reel that I have ever picked up.  Dicks has them is stock now so if you have one close you can go check them out for yourself.

The 7.4oz is legitimate I weighed it.  Combined with a light blank (StCroix 3C68MXF) Titan titanium guides, and a very light split grip, I wound up with a beautifully balanced combination that weighs less than 11oz total.

I got mine for $85 with no tax and no shipping on EBay

I bought 3 of the 8035's.....I was going to buy one 8030 but they were out. I've got 1 spooled with 10#, one with 8# and 1 spooled with 6#. The 8035's seem to be a perfect fit for any situation. I'm satisfied with them so far.

i'd get a 40 size.bigger spool = less line issues and stronger reel.it's not like it weighs a lot either.
