Kevin Van Dam Combo

Featured Replies

Just wondering i seen this combo in the Bass Pro book what would this combo be good for what lure would work best with his combo. Or for those of you that have the combo what are you all using them for. Thanks.

I can't speak to the quality of these, but aren't they offered in many different rod lengths and powers and reel speeds?  If so, they could be used for almost anything.

I figured they could i also am wondering how well they perform. Can anyone chime in on the quality.

anybody.

Most of the guys here use Shimano, Daiwa, Abu and a few Pfluegers.  Quantums are not highly regarded.  It may be fine, but I've just never used them.  I am a Shimano man myself.  I would suggest the combo below in that price range.  The Quantum may be just as good, but with the Shimano, I know for sure what I'm getting.  The Extreme rods are very good as well.  I have four of these combos and I've had no trouble with them except one broken rod.  I tend to get a little crazy with the hooksets sometimes.

Im also a big shimano guy. I have a few of the new curados but i usually like using the 100D, i've always liked the smaller sizes. I usually throw em on a shimano clarus or carbomax. I know there better rods but i really never had one break. They are very light and very durable. I just dont see why i should switch, you should try some shimano equiptment.

All the other brands are great, but i just got brought up on shimano and i love it.

If you're talking about the Citica combo, you won't be dissapointed.  Good luck and let us know how you like it.

A buddy bought 1 a year or so ago and liked it well enough to buy a second.

IMO I never used one but I feel they put KVD's name on a low quality setup . I have no respect for pros that put there name on things they dont even use themselves. It misleads people

I know for sure that the spinning reel is pretty high quality.  smooth like butter.  most who use it relate it to the PTi's feel, but I'm not sure.  stop by your tackle shop and try some out.  if you've got a bass pro shop around, you can try all the reels you want.
