i'm not on the boards a lot anymore, so, i don't get into the "i like shimano,,, no, i like daiwa ,,,no, it's gotta be pfleuger, etc., etc.,,,"  Observations.

i have mulltiple shimano calais, metanium xt, chronarchh 50mg, sustain, stradic, & stella, reels.

i've had ONE (!) bad bearing on a chronarch 50 mg & really, i'm kinda glad i did.  when i changed the bearing in it, i decided to upgrade the bearings in all of my reels.

i was fishing earlier this week & absolutely was just amazed at how well they work. ..slick like glass, smooth as silk.

now, i keep all my reels cleaned/lubed & keep fresh line on them ....and, believe me, it's worth every moment of time.   the absolute pleasure you get while fishing with quality equipment that works as it should.

i'm sorry all of you don't have the same results with your equipment, but, as far as i'm concerned, shimano makes the best reel(s) in the world.

oh, btw, if i had bought all daiwa reels & had taken the same kind of care with them, i'm sure i'd be singing the praises of daiwa about now.   we're all blessed to have the quality equipment we have to pursue our hobby of fishing.

I did the same to mine and I agree with you....what a difference!!!!!. Much more evident with my lower end reel, Quantums, than with the TD-Zs. They  are, by the way, the best reel ever built..... ;D

I like Shimanos too. I also like Abu's.

Glad to hear this from someone. I felt left out because everybody else has quantums, daiwas, pfluegers, etc....

Hearing you mention all your shimano tackle made my day   I feel the same way as you.

But i'd also like to say all other high end euiptment is great but im in love with shimano.

Love Shimano, Love Daiwa.  They are like your kids.....can't really say you like the one more than the other...but deep down....like the Daiwa a tad more.

Actually , most of the reels are made in the Orient:( Japan,Korea and China (Including Shimano) are machine produced for mass market, and they do a good job on a lot of reels, for a lot of different companies

With the exception of a Stella or a Steez( I could never afford to fish with either) miost reels at each pricing point seem to be of the same quality.I love Pflueger and no one is going to convice me that Shimano's are better. I don't think that Pfluegers are better than the Shimano's Its a matter of familiarity , prefrerence of feel and the drags

What I do notice is peiople who have never used or owned a Pflueger are very free to bash them. I have been around Pflueger Products a lot. They are very popular in the North East. Freinds of mine, some of whom I fished with at Lake Fork Love there Shimano's and Diawas and have similar experience with them

If you have a Zebco33 and love it, maybe we can fish together sometime I love watching people who love their equipment enjoy the sport as much as I do. My friend Ron caught His PB last week with A closed face ABU spincaster on a Lightning Rod and there ain't no one I love fishing with more!

Well said. I think any well made reel will do the job. It's personal preference after that. I like Calcuttas, I also like the old Abu Morums. I only like round reels with a metal reel seat plate. It's just what I like.

I like them all...They keep me real busy.... 8-)
