Cajun Line

Featured Replies

Has anyone used this line before.  I've seen it used on TV, and saw it Wal Mart today and figured I'd give it a try on my spinning reels.  Gonna try it out sometime soon.  Let me know what you think

I use Cajun Advantage on a few of my spinning reels and a couple of baitcasters.   It seems to have a little less memory than Berkley Trilene XL.   It doesn't jump off my spinning reels like XL does.   I got curious one day and checked to see what the line looked like in about 4 feet of water and it didn't appear to me to be any more or less visible than green XL.  Maybe a little deeper, but I didn't want to go diving...  It seems to be more abrasion resistant, and doesn't kink as much.

The biggest advantage it has, in my opinion, is this:  it's good line and its relatively inexpensive.  I replace line a lot.  You can get a lot of line for not much money.   So I have good fresh line on my reels more often then when I fill with XL.

I had been using trilene recently but i was having trouble with my line breaking whenever I had a fish on.  It wasnt that my knots were coming un-done the line would just break about 18 inches from the hook.  So I decided to try the Cajun line this time.

Make sure you get the Red Cast and not the Red Lightning.  The Lightning is way too stiff for spinning gear.

I use Advantage on my spinning reels and have never had a problem.

I have Cajun Red Cast 14# on a spinning reel and some 12# on a baitcaster. Seems to work well for me.

Maybe a little heavier and stiffer than some other line. The 14# is on a NH spinning outfit and I got snagged the other day. I really had a tough time breaking it off.
