Daiwa Reel Help!!!!!

Featured Replies

I was was wanting to take apart my reel(Daiwa Procaster PT100-4Bi) today for some relubing and I can't get the cover plates off! I took off the crank assembly, the star drag, the spool tension knob, the 3 small screws that I thought were holding the right side plate on but to no avail. I have no idea how to take this thing apart now. Does anyone have any experience w/ taking these or similar reels apart? Any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Then don't...

This is another BPS Exclusive reel..

But if you feel you have to, have the reels schematic ready before you start taking the screws out.. If the schematic didn't come with the reel then again don't.

Remove the palming side plate, then look at the schematic for the location of the body screw that is there. Once that screw is removed, goto the other side and remove the crank and star, then start removing the crank side plate screws. Once the crank side plate is lose, grip the cast control cap area and lift, the side plate should come off.

The thing is that you don't need to break the reel down to do basic maintenance of the reel. All basic lubrication points for the reel are available with out having to do a complete breakdown of the reel.

Good Luck!!    :)

Dude, rotate the sideplate down, not exactly the same reel but the same attatchment method:

Step one.- loosen the screw

Step two.- rotate sideplate down:

Step 3.- remove sideplate ( pull it out ) and remove spool assembly

When putting it back DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREW, you will break the sideplate.

This is why I always say, read the manual first....

"If you have never opened up to service before don't do it now"...

In Rauls step #3 take a good look at the screw that is holding the nose piece on. Your reel also has one that is the stabilizer bar for the line carriage, holding screw for the nose piece, and also the hidden side plate screw. That is the screw that was holding the crank side plate on when you have the three body screws removed, remove that screw first then remove the crank side body screws.

Good Luck & don't lose any parts...    :)

You don 't need the web, all you need to do is to ask it in BR ( best place in the net, heck even spitting contest tips are informative ! ) :)

And if the Collective don 't know the answer ( very unlikely ) ... we invent it !
