KB,

I have this drying motor and it works fine. When drying finish on a rod with a pistol grip, I wrap it with masking tape to center the rod on the motor shaft a little better. I hope I understood your question and I hope this is helpful.

KB,

I don't build pistol grips but I do have the 6 rpm dryer...  the rubber hole will strech a bunch so pretty much any handle or rod end will fit.  (on small stuff I have to build up a masking tape swell to give it a good grip)  I bought it about 6 years ago to use as an epoxy head fly dryer - all that to say it has lasted pretty well with nealry year round use.

They are a bit pricey but if you have the money, they are great.

kb,

Like Alpster, and flechero, I have a few of those motors in 18-rpm and 6-rpm. I use 2 of them in 6-rpm in my drying box.

But I have a different head that I use when I am drying a pistol grip rod. I change out one of the motors to a larger head that still has the rubber stretched on front, but I have slit it slightly so that the pistol grip sits more centered, plus it makes it easier for me to get the grip into the hole quicker so that I don't take to long and get any sagging of my finish.

Other than that they are great motors, I have had 2 of them for 15 years now and they haven't missed a step...

Hope this helps
