Favorite spinning travel rod set?

Featured Replies

Hi - looking for feedback on everyone's favorite travel set, can be telescopic or 3/4/5 piece, and spinning set. I am going to Kauai in September and looking to do some go for some peacock bass. I've heard good things about the travel rod from bps, but looking for something other than that particular rod.

I don't know about any heavy rack rods in 3-5 piece but have heard about many rods built on the Batson IC747-3 and IC847-3 blanks, built specifically for travel & peacocks.  Also, CTS is a great blank and will make anything in their catalog in 2 or 3 and many in 4 pc..

Also, check with your outfitter, you might be able to ship some rods down ahead of time in a PVC tube or rod hardcase.

As a last suggestion, I would PM "Redline Robert" for some advice, I know he has traveled for peacocks in the past... he might have some ideas.

pack your reel ,buy a cheaper rod when you get there ,and give the rod to a kid when you leave
