A freind of mine on another forum gave me it. I love it, still not sure what rod to put on it. I definatly want a rod with the split-grip cork. Really dont want to spend more than around $100 for the rod. Here's some pics. . .

Rods to me are more important. I'll always spend more on a rod then a reel.

If you can afford it gets a powell or dobyns, hold them both see which you like more. If you can't afford it, the gblanks rods are AWESOME rods. 3oz rods that are very sensitive.

Ok i'm throwing away the $100 budget lol. I'm been lookin at an e21 Carrot Stix which retails for $149.99. What do you guys think, I like the powell rods, but I love the carrot stix, they look like an awesome deal for the price.

I just saw a cheap Zebco rod the other day with a split grip. I'll bet that when the new rods hit the stores in the spring, there will be a lot of inexpensive rods with split grips.

you may wanna check and see if you can find a avid on sale .... i know around here they where on clearance for 100 bucks new with the warrenty .... i believe reeds on line may still have them .... the avid would set that reel off in a big way and if you could score one for 100 bucks ......

It depends what you're planning on using this set up for.

The carrot stick is VERY VERY VERY technique specific. It's not a very versatile rod, but excels highly in what it's meant to.

E21 is listing 18 different models, they can be as technique specific as any Fast MH would.

Looking at the specs, they don't seem to be all that technique specific.  Maybe the parabolic Casting rod but the others look they will fill more than one niche (or they would on my boat anyway)

below is my Tierra on a custom rod from Flechero.  This rod is also used for saltwater (hence the reel size)

This is the one reel that I got to use this year that would score 10's across the board, I couldn't even scratch it! (and believe me, it got used)

Didn't realize they put out so many new rods. Last I heard, they were only selling the two, 1 spinning 1 casting, and weren't coming out with the others until 08. Mhmmm?
