Is it true that a spiral wrapped rod will make it easier to fish braided line?

All of my BC rods are spiral wrapped and don't see where it makes a difference where a particular line is concerned. I think they perform better with all line types because they eliminate torque under a load and the line can't touch the rod. JMHE

Guides, guides come into play when you start talking lines.

Ron is right, the (Spiral Wrap) key is the elimination of rod torque thus making the rod more stable under fighting loads. Nothing else, does not hurt, nor help casting, does not give any edge to either braid, fluro, or mono. It all in the name of rod stability.

people often mention a loop wrapping around the tip top when using braid... when spiraled, the tip is on the bottom, it will happen less often, if at all.

Yes, this is what I was referring to.

Those of you who build or have used spiral wraps with braid.

do you find that they nearly eliminate the tip looping, or is it a minor improvement at best?
