Shimano Compre casting rods owners

Featured Replies

I'm about to order one of these rods but since i'm located in Europe I'm not able to see the rods. Any one owns the 7" MH XF and/or  7" MH F?

I would like to know the tip action of these rods. How stiff is the XF? I do not want a stiff flipping stick as i would use it as my all around rod.

I have a 6'6" m/xf and a 6'10" mh/xf and I think they both are pretty stiff.

I like both and have caught a ton of fish with them.

Mine are the brown ones, circa 2006.

Thanks, for what lures/presentations do you normally use them?

6' 10" mh/xf = 1/4 to 1/2 oz jigs, c-rig and heavy spinner baits.

6' 6" m/xf = 1/8 oz jigs, t-rigged plastics, cranks, spinner baits. I really love this rod.

I don't own either of these rods in question, but I have checked them out.  The XF is nothing compared to a "flippin' stick".  I think it's a bit soft for a XF action and would not buy this rod to fish jigs with.  No way.  It's got the power, but I don't like the tip action....too soft for me and jigs, might be ok with worms though.  However, I tend to like a stiffer tip then most guys so you may like it.

Compre rods, in general, tend to have softer tips then the Crucials do.  I much prefer the Crucial line of rods within the Shimano brand.

Thanks Jeff H , this helps a lot. I will not use the rod for heavy jiging anyway so i will go for the XF
