Rod Repair question

Featured Replies

Can you replace one of the inserts inside of your guides. I had the old insert but I couldnt force it back in. The rod has about 10 guides and this is the 4th one from the top. I've still been using the rod with no problems so far.

Nope you have to replace the whole guide frame and all. This will also have to be wrapped and finished....

Good Luck & Tight Lines !!!

I have a similar situation with a surf rod and was wondering how cost effective it would be to do the replacement myself if I take a guide off a same model rod that also had a "premature" end to its career.

After looking at DavidG's link, I came to a conclusion. Replace the rods w/ ones that has guides that holds up to braided line. Since this is a "guide" thread and not meaning to highjack it, what types of guides would you recommend for braided line DavidG?

Cheers!

Many tackle shops will have a local guy that does rod repairs, you should call the ones near you.  A single guide replacement is usually pretty cheap... a couple bucks for the guide and $10 or so for the repair.  Prices vary a little depending on where you are.
