What kind of reel?

Featured Replies

Ive been fishing for about 2 years and I always have used a spinning reel but im getting all new gear and im wondering what kind of reel i should get (spinning, baitcast, spincast). I like to fish at lakes/ponds for bass and crappie but would also like to use it to fish at rivers for trout.

So what do you guys think??

Thanks.

I agree: stay with the spinning reel for all around use. BUT, you might also want to consider an inexpensive fly rod and reel setup dedicated for river usage (trout) even though it could certainly be used to catch any species of fish you want. IMO:o)

I would stick with the spinning reel if you are fishing for trout and crappie.  You will be able to cast those lighter lures with the spinning gear.
