Travel rod

Featured Replies

I just got a 2 piece rod and have been told to put candle wax on the male end so it will come apart and go together without sticking. This sounds like  a good idea or is there another product I should use?

You're really supposed to use ferrule wax, but I guess candle wax would work too.

Sounds good to me!! :P

I just have one thing to add. If you do use candle wax, make sure it isn't one of those candles that smells like lavender or something like that. If you're fishing with me and I happen to smell that, and find out that its coming from your rod, your gear's going in the deep end of the lake. :P

DRat,

DO NOT use anything with a paraffin in it...You use what is called a ferrule lube

Quote from Trondak, Inc. makers of U-40 Ferrule Lube:

There is nothing worse that can be put on a ferrule unless its chewing gum, yet many manufacturers continue to use it. Paraffin collects dirt which is abrasive to the ferrule, it has a surface build up which interferes with the tolerance of the ferrule. Paraffin is the direct cause of more ferrule problems than any other single item

Tight Lines!!!!!
