Problem with BPS reel side cover

Featured Replies

I've got a BPS Finesse reel that I like alot, but the dang side cover won't come off!  To everybody that owns bass pro shops reels knows that all you have to do is press the button on the side and pull, right?  Well my ain't coming.  I would just leave it and not worry about it but I've had the reel a while and it needs cleaning.  I've tried different things to get it off but nothing's working.   Any idea about what the problem is?

HillBilly Willie,

Sounds like the reel is binding. I would back off the cast control cap until the spool can move sideways. Then try to remove the side plate. Every once in awhile I see Quantum's that have bayonets you have to slide then twist the side plate, and when the CC knob is to tight you can't move the side plate..

Try it hope it helps.....

Hey. Not sure if you already did this, but you have to push the button in and twist clockwise(front of reel down towards the pole), then it will come off.
