Handheld GPS???

Featured Replies

Ok, lets here your opinions on what handheld GPS units are best and why.  My budget is $200 or less, don't need color, want it mainly for fishing on smaller lakes that are not on hotspots etc.

Nothing wrong with the Garmin eTrex, plenty good if you only want to mark your spots and follow a trail back.  And less than $100.

If you want some mapping capability, I like my H2O.  I like the Lowrance for that since you can download their Free Enhanced Lake maps.   Not sure where you fish, but they have lots of lakes in their free maps:

lowrance H20 is tuff to beat

+1.  Very happy with mine

I got a Lowrance ifinder Go that did a great job until I bought a Lowrance depth/gps combo for my boat.  The ifinder Go only costs $79.99 and can save up to 1000 waypoints

Another vote for the H2o C ! ;) Can use it where ever you go,boat, truck, hunting, hiking etc..

Thanks for the input, I bought a Lowrance H20 today at BPS.  I just couldn't justify the extra $100 for the color unit though.

$50 says that 6 months from now you'll be kicking yourself for not getting the color.

It makes a huge difference.

I think the self imposed kick should be from buying it at bass pro. Unless you had a gift card, a simple Google product search would have revealed sites selling them NEW for as little as 125! I got mine for 139 last year by searching this way.

Who has used or is using the MapCreat software?  If you are how much more detailed are the maps?  I am wondering if I get that would I be able to see smaller county lakes as at least bodies of water or would it still show that I am on land when I am in the middle of the lake.  By smaller I am talking about 50 to 150 acre county lakes.
