Inshore rods?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I was just wondering what is the difference between rods "designed for inshore fishing" and plain ol' bass rods. Like, what is the difference between a GLoomis Greenwater and a GLoomis IMX or something like that, action wise, i know they are completely different rods. Also, theres nothing wrong with using "bass" rods like a Carrot Stik for inshore fishing is there?

Thanks

Alot of guys are using Bass rods for inshore fishing, I use a 7ft MH Shimano Clarus and a 7ft. Mh BPS Extreme Spinning rod for inshore use. The main difference I far as I can tell is the eyes. Alot of Saltwater rods have double foot eyes. I would be scared of using a Carrot Stick in the salt. Most people feel that the rod is the most important item in the equation. However, for saltwater fishing, I feel the reel is more important, especially when fighting fish that are capable of making huge runs. There is where you need a reel with a strong drag. Just my opinion, hope this helps
