Looking To Get A Spinning Reel At The Bps Spring Classic. Any Suggestions?
I have this reel in a 2500 series. I used it last fall for inshore fishing with 15 pound braid. Made short work of some nice sized black sea bass.

Symetre(New) Vs. Orra S/sx Spinning Reel
They have the Plueger body by my observation. The Fierce is a great reel, for.the money I have the 4000 series. The Battle 3000 is even better. I curently own 3 differnent Battles. My oldest reel is a Symetre 4000 that is 12 yrs old., but it has a metal body not the graphite/plastic stuff

New Spinning Reel Setup.
I have both the Battle and the Lexa. IMO the Battle is a better reel. However,it is an inshore saltwater reel, which is where I do most of my fishing.

Pflueger President 6735 Crank
That is about what I paid for my Penn Battle handle, which is nothing more than a Saltwater version of the Pfluegers. Very fast shipping, had it in about three days.

Spouses
Yep, my wife loves to fish. Also helps load and unload a 19 ft center console. She can hold her own at any boat ramp. I have seen jaws drop at the Wrightsville Beach boat ramp as she has shown more than one so called "hard core boater" up while backing the trailer down and pulling our boat out of water.

Compre and Claurus
I have a 7' MH Clarus spinning rod, it is now 10 yrs old and it's still my favorite rod. I gave it a new reel this yr, found a Shimano Spheros 4000fa at a local tackle shop for $49. This rod is tough, it has caught everything from Bass to Black Drum and small Sharks. Every time I think of upgrading it, I find an excuse not to. I also have a 6'6" ML casting Compre, however it does not get used that much. I am not big on casting equipment.

American Rodssmiths
BPS has them online.

American Rodssmiths
Cool, I might go to BPS after Christmas, and see if they have them in store. There is not any dealers for them around here. This is pretty much a Shimano, Star rods, and St.Croix town. Fenwicks are starting to make an infux here as well.

Has anyone tried, or know of someone who has tried, the new Team Series with the V17 Winn golf grips, I am considering one for light inshore duty.

So Disappointed!!!
I buy scratch off tickets, every once and awhile. The only reason they call it the education lottery is so that they can justify gambling to certain groups here in NC, but I will not get started on that subject. :

SHIMANO REELS
Symtre FJ $99.99- I have FH version that has been used inshore saltwater for 9 years, no problems. Had an 4000 Fh that I tried to take apart and ruined. My new favorite is the 4000 Spheros FB, inshore reel, 22# of drag @ $109.99.

Kiffin to USC
Hey, I don't blame him for leaving. No disrespect to Tennessee, but it's not USC. Plus, he was an assistant under Pete Carroll so he knows the school and the program.

Another Shimano
SirSnookalot, I played with a bunch of reels while at the local tackle shop yesterday. Most of them were Shimano's as that is what's predominately sold around here. I found that I liked the Spheros better. It came down to the Spheros, Saros 3000 which was going on a 7ft MH Clarus, and a Penn Sargus 4000. They were out of the Penn, which I found to be just a Pflueger Medalist w/ the Penn badge. To me the Spheros felt just as smooth as the Saros. It may have just been that the display was worn out. Anyway, I need brute strength and durability as I tend to be rough on my equipment. I see more Spheros reels in my future as many of cheaper reels are in need of replacement. I fear the bait monkey's evil saltwater cousin is coming. ;D

Another Shimano
After the demise of my Symtre 4000 FI, due to my own doings. I have been in need of another reel for my Key Largo inshore rod. I bought a Spheros 4000 fb this afternoon, this reel is sweet. The frame is smaller and lighter than my old Symtre, with the same line capacity. Plus, it has 22#pounds of drag. I think I going to spool it up with either 15 or 20# braid. This may become my favorite setup. Man, I can't wait for spring.

Mike Leach fired
He just messed with the wrong kid, on the flip side I would not be surprised if James transferred to another school, may SMU would take him.

Freshwater rod use in saltwater?
I own two of those rods, one ML and the other Medium action. I have used both in saltwater all the time. The medium action is over three years old. I also have a Shimano Clarus that I have used for inshore fishing for 8 years with no problems
