Recommendations:

Spinning: Symetre ~ $100 or Stradic CI4~ $175

Baitcasting: Citica ~ $100 or Curado 200E7~$160

I own most Shimano reels at or above indicated

pricing points. These are the best bang for the

buck. More importantly, all four reels fish just as

well as the higher priced models!

If you are fishing braid then get the stradic, or else the braid will dig into the plastic part that guides the line into the roller. (not to technical terms!) ;D

I would agree. I've found Shimano to make good gear across the board, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get Shimano quality.

I don't know, but we have a lot of new members

looking for recommendations on "The Best" reels

at certain pricing points. My suggestions are for

those that are interested. I'm not sponsored and

I don't really care what anyone fishes.

Great Recommendations RW, I opted for the Shimano Sahara 1000 when I made a Shimano purchase and it's a great reel.

You know what they say about opinions!

If you want it then start it... just cause he is a mod doesn't mean he has to like all brands or be unbiased.. it's what he likes so get off it...

Shimano® Cardiff® $109.99 :D

Symtre FJ $99.99- I have FH version that has been used inshore saltwater for 9 years, no problems. Had an 4000 Fh that I tried to take apart and ruined.

My new favorite is the 4000 Spheros FB, inshore reel, 22# of drag @ $109.99.

Stradic CI4 for $175? Where are you finding that deal?!?!?!

I love my shimano spinning reels, however my bps pro qualifiers fished just as good as my curado! Which is why i sold my curado and will be getting more pq's! I still use a lot of shimano rods as well!

Yea I would be interested to know that as well.

Kent, don't you find Curado's heavy? I like Shimano, but the weight keeps me from being a big fan. I've borrowed a chronarch a time or two on a Lommis, fantastic casting rig!

I picked the Chronarch over the Curado, cuz I thought it was smoother..reel size doesn't matter much to me...

I have a Calais 200 saddled to a St. Croix EC70MHF.

The package is not "heavy", it is balanced.

You bet - I've got a reel that weighs 6.6oz - I did spend the loot - $80 for a BPS ProLite - 7 bearings and dual-braking ;D
