Antique Rods?

Featured Replies

4 yrs. now that my father has passed and my mom started to part with some of his gear. She gave two bamboo fishing rods in fair shape. One appears to be a salt water rod and the other a fresh water. Can't find any markings on them any idea on possible value if any? Thanks in advance!!

Firstly sorry to hear about your father.  4 years goes by fast when thinking about something like that.

Secondly welcome to bass resource!

Thirdly, your question.

If they are fly rods, I have seen a range of 300-500 for unnammed decent condition rods. 500-800 for good-great conditioned unammed bamboo fly rods. Named rods by a custom maker can run 1000+ (depending on condition and maker). I have seen some on the 3k-5k range.

Basically its a big range. But there is a large market out for them so the values will be a premium considering its in good condition.

pictures would help, how many pieces, length etc would impact price also.

Years ago one of my Uncles gave up fishing and gave my Father a split bamboo fly rod and he didn't flyfish. It went into the attic and hasn't been seen since ;). I guess I never thought about bamboo for other types of fishing rods. Also, WELCOME to the forums!!!
