difference between rods

Featured Replies

i was wondering what the difference is between a parabolic rod and a medium heavy rod. i bought a carrot stix today and the guy siad to get the parabolic one, but i have no idea what that is. thanks for any info

Parabolic has no reel backbone it just bends into a "C".

Med/hev is 60/40 so the backbone is 2/3 up the rod.

70/30 is exacter fast so the backbone closer to the tip.

Every rod company is a little different.

You can push the rod down on the floor and get a feel for action.

The closest to a true parabolic rod that I use is my crankbait rod. It's rated as a Med Med action. Seems to bend from right around the middle of the rod. Really very whippy. And that what makes it cast a crank a mile, yet work as a shock absorber to reduce the amount of excess vibration from the Crank.
