Bad Drop Shot Knot?

Featured Replies

I recently tried to use the drop shot even though I have fished for a while now I never tried it till now but when I tie the knot and put the weight on the hook isn't facing up but faces diagnolly or off to the side... is there anything I'm doing wrong while tying the know or is it the hooks I'm using?

Thanks in advance if I don't reply its getting late here and I still have plenty of homework :)

What I do is tie a palomar knot. face the hook the way you want it to face and then use the end of the line to slip it thru the eye of the hook from the top and pull down. Now your hook should face up.

I hope I explained it right. Good luck and have fun w/ the dropshot. :)

For one, what type of hook are you using?

Tying a drop-shot is simple.

Follow those instructions.  Once the knot is finished (be sure to leave a tag end of 15-20"), pass the tag end of the line back through the front of the eye of the hook.

That should make the hook stand up.

Don't give up.  It takes me about 8 tries to get it perfect.  I am OCD though.
