I went and checked out a Citica today. After taking off the side plate how do you adjust the brakes? I just saw a star like figure..

You pull the little boots out to the end of the arms (of the star you saw) for the most braking power (slower spinning spool).  Think about it this way.  When you see people figure skating and they start spinning round and round.  When they have their arms out they spin slow when they have their arms in towards the center or their body the spin really fast.  Having said that, I really hate figure skating and no I am not gay!

Hahaha alright man! I saw the little orange things, but it seemed as if they barely moved. It doesn't seem like they would make that much of a difference. How many do you pull out? I'm trying to decide between a Revo S and a Citica.

I have them both. They are both solid reels. But I use my Citica 10x more than my Revo S.

Pull as many as you need to throw the lure you are using an not backlash.  I think it is best to always pull the two opposite of each other to keep things balanced.  So either 2, 4, or all 6.  There is another thread debating the two reels you are trying to decide between.  Good luck.

The collars at 12:30 and 6:30 are 'on', the rest are 'off'.

Ohhh thanks soo much. So the norm is to keep two on (opposite) and then adjust the external brake to the lure?

i love my citicas.

what i do is i will always have the two opposite brake weights (pink pieces) pulled out and the rest in.

then i will adjust the spool tension knob (located on the other side of the reel next to the drag) so that when i click into freespool the lure will slowly fall to the ground.

oh and btw, if you cant decide between citica and revo, get the citica...you wont be disappointed .

 I own one of the Citicas, a 200D. It is a great reel! The more educated your thumb gets, the fewer of the brakes you need...

BTW the only other "decent" reel I owned had mag. brakes and I was worried about having to open the reel every time I changed baits, it doesn't have to work that way. It is a really good system...

Iv always bought shimano then heard everyone talking about the revo so i bought a stx, sold it after 1 day after use, casting was no better then my shimanos, drag was slightly stronger but no 24 lbs like they say imo and to me i didnt like how the reel sits one the rod compaired to my shimanos so i sold the stx for a citica  best move i made of the 2 ;D

Oh wow. With the *** sale would ya'll upgrade to a Curado or stay with a Citica?

At that price, I'd go w/ the curado. The price its basically paying for the citica at retail and getting the curado.  I myself are having trouble deciding between curado and the stx.
