Shimano Cumara Spinning Rod Question

Featured Replies

Looking at the 6'8", med, extra fast: CUSDX68M

I see that it's lure rated to 3/8 oz.

I would like to know if I can use this rod for more of an all purpose spinning rod. I mean using 4-5" Senkos T-rigged & wacky, drop shot, also 3/8 oz & under crankbaits & lipless cranbaits, and jigs.

Will it have enough backbone for setting the hook when using Senkos?

I was looking at the Cumara 6'8" MH, fast; but it felt a bit too stiff for what I am looking for. I would prefer a lure rating up to 1/2-5/8 oz so would this rod load up too much, or will it work out?

You think I can also use this for dock skipping?

Also wondering why the medium action Cumaras have a lower lure rating than other rods in medium action?

Personally I would go with the MH Fast. But thats just me. Did you see the write up on this rod on Tackle Tour it explains alot. I was going to buy a Camura for the exact same purpose you are looking for and I decided on the MH Fast if I would gt one of those but I went to another company instead.

Good Luck.

I went ahead & ordered the 6'8" MH Cumara spinning rod.  After reading your post & others on other sites, the MH would make a much better all purpose spinning rod.

I have the 6'8" Med, extra fast Cumara baitcast rod, I'll soon have the Cumara spinning as well.

YOu do realize that those rods are designed for bottom bouncing techniques. They should work for all purpose. Anyways good choice.
