Is This Right?
THey are both fine. The piece above the prop is a sacrificial diod that is used to also counter tourque steer. Also with the skeg. The skeg I know because we thought the same thing on my partners 225 optimax but his mechanic says merc does that to help againse tourque steer. SO the Skeg if perfectly fine.

curado bashing
I actually spoke to a shimano rep today at the local bait shops spring sale. And he said yes its coming back to the green color and the 100 will have the HEG and resemble the Core. The price will aslo be 144.99 and the citica will get the same improvement and cost 99.99. I guess we will have to wait and see. I did forge to ask when they where coming out, he was getting bombarded by people.

MI Opener is getting close!!!
I made it out today for about 45 mins before the cold air moved in and was getting little one in the canals befoe I cought a 4 pounder about 2 feet from shore on wacky worm. Then it just startined to get to cold for shorts and a wind breaker. But atleast I broke the 4 pound mark now I have to set my sites on 6 pounds. I was fortunite enough to have my appendix removed april 11th and was forced to take 2 weeks off ( OHHH DARN ) I was out fishing from the fallowing wednesday until I had to go back on the 28th. The weather was great but the wind was rediculus. I have not been able to go out nd actually be able to work a specific spot with out really working the TM. Oh well its better than the hard water under 12 inches of that white fluffy $hit called snow. Good Luck guys.

Kistler Rods
Well let put it like this. I bought a Magnesium rod from a guy online and I broke it. The rod was over a year old. I sent it to kistler and the replaced it for free. I wasnt even the origional owner. Give them a call they are very easy to get aold of and just ask your concers. They are second to none.

My First Shimano Reel!
Yes because your pinion gear is now just free floting. The spool holds its straing and in correct alignment with the other gear. Its normal but dont keep doing it

Neither Reel should make any sound if they re properly lubricated. If it soundsl ike hte spool is rubbing when your reeling make sure your side plate ( handle side ) is tight by that I mean check the screws and ssnug them up. Also if your reels get wet there is a drain hole in the bottom of the reel but personally I would take apart and relube. But if you dont feel comfy doing that atleast oil your spool bearings and put a drop of oil in the cast control knob. I take tese reels apart and clean them all of the time for people and they are easy to do. If you have any kind of mechanical inclinition you can do it. JUST PAY ATTENTION to how the parts come off and give yourself a big area to spread out parts and keep them togather as you take apart. You can also get your schematis and use them. Good luck.

MI Opener is getting close!!!
Well Water temps where from 52 at about 10 am and upto 56.5 by 2. We did not catch any Crappie ( oh Darn ) they just wouldny hit on 1/2 oz spinners and spooks ;D. But the bass went crazy. Michbass cought a 4 lber and I cough 2 3-lbers and about 4 1-2 lbers and 4 pike. I honestly couldnt belive the bass they where agressive, even going after spooks. So I guess we have to call today a bust since we didnt get any crappie. Cant wait to try and go out again tomorrow and try to catch crappie again.

Recommendations for a spinning reel?
I have only seen the President in the store and I have a sahara, Go with the President. I am a shimano Die Hard but I am not hapy with teh Sahara, its is now reduce to my skipping rod. Personally I would save a little more and look into the Saros which is a fatastic reel for the money. I bought one a month ago and I am on my way tomorrow to get another.

My First Shimano Reel!
HAWG OK 1st if you have the concept of a bait cster down ok then start out with about 3 brakes out and 3 in, do every other brake out to ballence the spool. 2nd tighten the spool up a little and as you cast slowly loosen till your liking. Now rules to remember, setting the tension so the bait slowly falls is a good place to star but dont leave it there if you have control and want more distance. 2nd If your line starts to backlash in the beginning of your cast ou need more brakes. If the line is backlashing at the end of your cast before it hits the water you need more spool tension. If you fallow those rules you can tune your bait caster in a couple of cast and it will work for most lures you put on it pending on the wind conditions. On windy days I like to use 3 brakes and calm days I use 2 and my spool is almost free spooling. But thats just for how I cast and each person is different. The VBS braks work great once you get them tuned. Also a quick tip for you. Put a couple of drops of oil on a q tip and rub it around the brass ring where the brakes touch and this will increase your casting distance and increase the break efficiancy. This was told to me by Shimano and WOW does it work great. I actyall put a drop of oil on 3 pins and give it one good cast and done for a couple of hours of use. I hope I didnt bore you but shimano system is very easy and very effictive if tuned correctly. Good luck.
