When using braided line should you use the max rating for line thats on your rod or the Eq. Dia. for mono that the braid is equal to? ie: 50lb. braid is egual to 12lb. mono.

Now if my rod is rated for 10-20lb test and I put 50lb. braid on it I am running a good chance of snapping it yes .

    If you use common sense and set your drag properly you should be alright with any # test of braid.

    I agree with jig man. Those are just ratings they put on the rods and reels. Set the drag properly and never try to muscle a stuck bait or lure and you should be fine.
