Shimano reel upgrades

Featured Replies

I have an almost brand new shimano cardiff 200A it's only about 5 months old and was wondering if there were any upgrades I could do to it?  Smoother drag, maybe get rid of that loud noise it makes when I cast?  Any suggestions?

I also have 2 curado 200 (DPV, DHSV) that I was thinking the same thing about.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.  Websites, Books, anything?

*** can answer all your questions. Look on here for his site. Built a Shimano green Curado for me and super tuned it and its better than when new. Prices are very reasonable with fast turn around. :)

You could probably upgrade your spool support bearings to ABEC5's either in Stainless or Ceramic's. As for upgrading the drags I don't see anything that is made just for the Cardiff, but when measured you would be surprised what you might find that fits in the Carbontex line...

As for your Curado' 200 there are Carbontex for the 200 dhsv (I have in stock) and the dpv (I need to order). The spool support bearings you can get ABEC5's in Stainless or Ceramics..

I changed the bearings  of my 2 Cardiff to ceramic ABEC 5 from smoothdrag.com, also the drag washers to Carbontex that there are now available, you need the set CT 100. Both reels cast better and have smoother and stronger drag.

Sweet!

Reel Mech,  Can you give me an estimate if I sent you all three reels and had them installed as well as cleaned and lubed?
