BC Confution

Featured Replies

I have been learning BC. I am just really focused on fishing a T rig soft bait weightless untill I can get it down. Now Why is it thal my cast distance is cut in half when I use BC compared to Spinning. Sould I only use spinning while fishing weightless plastics? Thanks guys

Could depend on several things...adjustment of the spool tension knob, any cast control device settings (like centrifugal or magnetic brakes), line weight on your reel, action of your rod, weight of the bait you're trying to cast, to name a few. Might help to give more details on your equipment setup. First thing I would do is make sure the spool tension knob is set such that when the spool is disengaged your bait falls slowly to the ground without overspooling when it lands. Then adjust the cast control device to the minimum setting you can get away with without birdnesting your reel on every other cast.

Those are just a couple suggestions to help lengthen your casts. Good luck and don't give up, it just takes some practice.

Traditionally people use spinning gear for lighter baits because its easier to cast and you dont lose distance like you would if you were using a baitcaster. Not only a spinning reel but a lighter spinning rod and lighter line, i dont think your going to have an easy time casting a weightless worm using 12# line and a MH rod. If your looking for suggestions then i think a Medium power Fast action spinning rod would suit your needs perfectly.
