Used fishing line

Featured Replies

What do you do with left over fishing line...

Fact mono line takes up to 600 years dissolve

I end up throwing mine away though, I rather recycle it.

Most fishing areas and some stores have mono trash tubes where you can get rid of it.  Dont know if it gets recycled though, but it doesnt wind up in the trash where it can hurt animals though

Most of the tackle shops send their used line bins to Berkley.  From what I've heard, Berkley uses it in their research for new line development.  Don't know if thats true or not but they must use it for something because on their packages it says to send used line to their address.

i burn all of mine...maybe not the best option, but far better than throwing it in the trash

I've read that you can just put it in a plastic bottle and recycle it. So pop, milk, or water. I've read it several times and I think it has been in Bassin' and BASS master as a tip once or twice.

Wow, 600 years.  I wonder why it takes such a long time.  I've been throwing it in the trash but I guess start recycling it.

That is a great tip. Can anybody second this?
