I think this is a stupid question but what the heck...

Sure, why not?

And to save money, use a base of mono and then tie the Fireline to the mono so that you will have a "full" spool but not with all of the expensive Fireline.

Just be sure your rod can support the Fireline hook set.  We do not want to you to break your rod when landing that 10 pounder.

Thanks guys for that info. I do have a rod that will support fireline (7' ugly stik) I want to use it for flippin. I completly hate 80lb and 65lbs braid. All you can use it for is flippin. Atleast with 30lbs fireline I can still fish with it as well as flip.
