Problem with reel

Featured Replies

I have a BPS Pro Qualifier baitcasting reel that is about 5 years old.  After a cast, when I turn the handle, sometimes it doesn't fully trip the catch that allows the spool to turn and take up the line.  The line guide moves back and forth when I turn the handle, but the spool doesn't turn.  When that happens, I have to press the button again and give the handle a sudden turn which usually releases the catch.  Anyone know what the problem might be or how to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Buy a new reel :).

Yup the parts in the return rachet plate area, are getting gunked up.

5 yrs. without any PM (preventive maintenance) and this is to be expected, get it completely serviced by a qualified service shop.

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
