I've got several TD-Z's apart now, and they are getting a fresh coat of paint.  I'd probably order the bearings from VXB Bearings, versus paying $42.99 for only two TG bearings.  What I'm confused about, is the TG Rocket Bearings kit only comes with 2 bearings.  Are folks generally only replacing 2 bearings?  I though it would be 3 or 4.

Natural, I believe that the two spool bearings are the only ones that spin fast enough to justify the upgrade.

Unless, of course, you can crank the handle at 30,00 RPM.

Because they are only replacing the spool support bearings (5x11x4mm & 3x8x4mm), IMPO ABEC7 rated bearings will not bring you any more than the ABEC5 rated bearings for upgrade...

I agree with this, I have both and cannot tell the difference. I think it's more in my head. I mostly use ZPI brand (ABEC 5) without shields. They require lots of maintenance though. I like to tinker so I don't mind. Ghoti and *** hit it right on the head.

I really like the  ABEC 5  Ceramic hybrids from boca bearing.

I did try some stainless ABEC 7's which were okay for the price but I think the boca's are better.

I also agree with the other guys. I have TGs and ABEC 5 ceramics from Smoothdrag.com in my Daiwas. The only ones that I noticed any and very little difference were with my Pixys. TD-Zs, Alphas and Shimano Scorpion were exactly the same.
