What lures for a 6' 6" "mod. fast", medium heavy casting rod?

Featured Replies

What types of lures would you most likely use this rod for (1/4 - 1 oz.) lures? Rapalas and top water? Or soft plastics?

I have been using a fast action, MH, casting rod for spinners and heavier jigs but I have a chance to pick up a tad lighter rod but I'm not sure that I have a need for it.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it might be good for crankbaits.  As well as spinners and topwaters.

Aaron is the mod. fast better for crankbaits, spinners and top water than the fast action rods? why is that?

Thanks for the input!

I use a 7 foot mod fast action rod for crankbaits and topwaters. The slower action is good because it keeps constant pressure on the fish and prevents it from gaining any slack in the line which it could use to throw the hook. If you have noticed losing a lot of fish on crankbaits with a fast action rod, a mod fast action will help lessen that number

Hey, how about those Devils! They signed Salvador from us, good d-man, nice guy.

Thanks for the input, looks like I will pick up this rod. In that scenario I have a fast action for some applications and mod. fast for others.
