Spiderwire Stealth

Featured Replies

I just bought a new baitcaster and but spiderwire stealth 10 lb line on it.  I was practicing casting in my driveway quite a bit and noticed some fraying of the line. When I went out fishing the past two trips I have snapped my line 3 times trying to set the hook.  Is the line weak from casting in a paved driveway or is there some other problem with my setup?

Your issue could be due to dragging the line across pavement.  Also,  you could have a knick or defect on one of your guides that is causing the line issue.

Also, the issue could be with your knot as opposed to the line itself.

On a side note I prefer Suffix braid over the Spiderwire.

It's probably because of the rough driveway.  Braid is very strong, but it can cut easily and fail.
