What's What in my Crankbait Boxes?

Featured Replies

How does everyone keep their crankbaits organized so you know what depth they dive to?  Recently I've learned to mark on the underside of the bill with an Ultra Fine Sharpie, but is there a better way?

A buddy of mine mentioned that he just looks at the bill size, but I can't tell the difference between my 15' - 18' deep divers from my 22+ deep divers.

That sounds like an easy and good idea to tell the not so obvious depths apart.

An effective and easy way to organize by depth is use a marker or label maker and put the running depth in the bottom of the tray or compartment you keep the lure in. I have also heard of guys using a small triangular file or a coping saw blade and making tiny notches in the bill. 1 for 6' 2 for 10' 3 for 12' etc.

I use seperate boxes for different depths. The flat clear plastic boxes.

I use a fine red marker and write the depth on the bill.

i dont have and insane amount of cranks, so i can remember what they all are, and if i cant remember, i can usually tell by looking at the bill. but writing on the bill sounds like a good idea.

The marker usually wears off.  I use a razor blade and gently etch the depth into the bill.

I use a fine red marker and write the depth on the bill.

I do the same but also separated in boxes for shallow, medium and deep runners.

Just buy Rapalas. It tells you on the lip!  ;)

The only Rapalas that are labeled are the DT series.
