What rod would you buy, up to $170 for frogs (bronzeye and such) plus flippin' heavy cover (slop). The less money the better as then I can use the extra for something else. ;D

I'd want 7 1/2" heavy power not sure what action. I'm looking at Powell, St Croix Legend, and Daiwa Light and Tough.

There are a ton of good rods around the $100-$125 mark.  Action- I'd get a fast for those applications.  You might also look at the Shimano and All Star rods in that price range.

I do not feel you can go wrong with the Powell.  Excellent rod for the money.  Lighter and more sensitive than the L&T, imo.

The Powell rods are all power rating 5. But only one has a FAST action and that's the 7'3" 735MH. Both the 765MH and the 766H are Ex Fast action. I'm not sure what the 5 power rating means as all these rods have a 5 rating but the 735 and 765 are rated MH and the 766 is rated MagH. I don't know what Mag is.

Anyway, would you choose one of these three? If so, which one?

That Mag Heavy is like a extra heavy.  It is rated to 2 oz. lures.  You could literally use it for small swimbaits as well.  With the extra fast tip, for fast hooksets, and that when frog fishing you are normally in the slop, that is probably the rod I would pick.  However, the MH ex fast rod would probably work out also.
