I will be needing a line to use as leader material.  Low visibility is not as important as ultra tough abrasion resistance.  Original fireline is great as a highly rugged leader but I was wondering if the new crystal is  as tough.  Any experience out there?

Braid as a leader? NONE. I use Gamma or P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon Leader for abrasion resistance. Its worth noting I fish in zebe infested waters.

The two lines you mentioned are the same, just different color.

i really like fireline but i used the crystal once and did not like it, might have just been the batch i had but it seemed thicker stiffer and i broke it with my hands while taking a backlash out so i haven't tried it since. Might not be bad but i don't have confidence in it anymore. never had a problem with the black tho. BTW i was using 20lb
