Two lures that have worked for me

Featured Replies

Hello fellas I just wanted to share with you all two lures that have worked out for me. I sometimes do not like to throw away my used or worn lure so I put them together and experiment a bit to see what bites when I am out on the lake.

The second is a Hopkins spoon 3/4 oz that I have attached a Robo finess worm on a 1/0 EWG Gatsu hook. I use this rig near rock walls and dams. I just cast out at the base wall or dam, let it sink and bounce slowly on the floor all the way back to the boat. Or I just jig it up and down just below the boat. I have caught a 6lb LB from 30-40 ft depth.

The first is a 1/4 oz jig head that I attached rubber strings and a Robo finess worm. I cast this out let it sink and wait about 5 minutes before I retrieve slowly bouncing off the bottom. I always get alot of hits with this one. I have pulled some nice SB from 3-5lbs no B.S.

Anyways guys fish on and fight them hard. I have a upcoming trip and will post some pics if I catch any. Sorry I did not have camera on me to show ya what I have pulled out with these two lures.

Definately different.

Props for finding ways to use your tackle.

heck, I give you props for finding a way to make fish bite on a spoon. I have never gotten a nibble on those things.

Me neither. But I also have never tried to jig them vertically and I think that is the best use for them.

Great tip on the Robo's.  Now I know what to do with some of the leftovers from the shakey head. That Hopkins spoon is a killer for deep vertical jigging.  Have one rigged all the time and if your graph shows schools of shad in timber or around docks give it a try.  Drop to the bottom and give it short jerks.  Lower your rod tip at about the same rate as the jig is falling keeping a little slack in the line.  The fish usually pick it up on the fall and you'll notice the line didn't fall as far as normal.  Set the hook!  big

Robo worms have been productive me

Kudo's for getting extra mileage, and bassies out of them.

Thanks for sharing with us.  The hopkins/worm reminds me of one of those wobbling eel baits people use for stipers.

Me neither. But I also have never tried to jig them vertically and I think that is the best use for them.

I've had a lot of luck with the spoon by casting it out and leting it sink to the bottom, then pulling it up and letting it flutter back down and just do that all the way back to the boat.  Covers more water that way.
