Found a pond that has bunches of lilly pads, clear water, and I have seen VERY big bass in it! What kind of leader should I use? I want it to be light enough so it can't be seen, but heavy enough so i wont break off in the weeds. The lightest FC I have is 20lb yo zuri and I use it for inshore salt water, would you say it's a bit to heavy?

I have very little experience fishing clear water. Any help will be appreciated!

I say use what you have. We probably care more about the line than the fish do.  The action of your lure is more important than the fish seeing the line.  If the 20 FC is too stiff and messes with the lure action, then you might want to go down to a 10-15 (depending on line). So it all depends on the lure your tossing.

i would use flurocarbon for sure. but anywhere from 12 to about 20 depending on the cover that your fishing.

I'm very used to fishing clear, weedy water. For years I used 10# mono, in the last few years I use Power Pro 15# much more than mono. I use the green and don't bother with a leader.

As an earlier poster said, the fish care less about the line than some of us do.

I've fished this type of situation a lot.....  I use 15 lb. p-line most of the time, but recently have switched to braid.......

If you don't like braid, I'd be sure and use at least 15lb. test as you said there are big bass in there.........

I'd start with senkos and flukes.....Watermelon.... especially on overcast days........

If it's bright and sunny- put on a real small sinker and texas rig a powerworm or a motoroil Culprit.......

I've had good luck on a chatterbait, but you need a trailer hook as they miss the hook and bite off the dang skirt........

Go with a topwater chugger early and late.........

A shallow running crankbait can produce well this time of year...... something that dives less than 5 feet......

This last one is a longshot....... but worked for me yesterday..... I rigged a Zoom finesse worm wacky rigged, but I just threw it out and reeled it in fairly fast.........just a few feet under the surface.... they wouldn't take anything else, but couldn't resist to hammer this lure.........

The lake is actually on my friends neighbor's property, and I can't go their without him. He will also bring his john boat!  Let's hope that I remember to bring my camera
