If I have a MH rod that weights heavier than the M rod and 2 baitcasters. Ofcourse one being heavier than the other. What makes a better match?

The heavier rod with the lighter BC or the heavier rod with the heavier reel?

I know its all about feel and preference, but which one makes more sense to match up?

I was thinking if you are using a lighter rod, you should be matching it up with a lighter reel, but maybe a heavier reel on lighter rod would be fine too. Anyways, I just want to know how you look at it and what makes sense to you.

It depends how balanced the rod is to begin with. A heavier powered rod doesn't always require a heavy reel to balance it out. A tip-heavy medium powered rod requires a heavier reel to balance it out.

A Chronarch Mg will sit just fine on a big ol' meatstick, as long as the rod is balanced to begin with. On the other hand, if that big ol' meatstick is tip-heavy, I'd rather put a Chronarch B on it.

Then there's the whole 'what are you using your rod for' thing. Tip-up presentations, like plastics and jigs, are a lot easier to fish with a balanced rod. Tip-down presentations, topwater and jerks, don't really require a primo balanced rig.

Check the rod's specifications for line test and lure weight.

Make sure your reel is within the specifications for the line test specs on the reel.

In other words, if the rod says 10 to 17 pound test you will need a reel that is capable of handling 10 to 17 pound test line.

Then consider the reel, itself, and its size, weight and power.

Experiment until you find the correct balance you are seeking.
