Question about my Revo S

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there is something i half to take apart to get to. To make my revo S cast like my SX? Is there anything i can do inside the reel? I thought i read somewhere that you could adjust something inside?

If it has a normal break system:

Take off the side cover and push the collars in torward the center of the reel to make less resistance when casting.  There should be six.  Dont push all of them down but maybe 3 out of the 6.  Thats what is on my reel.

If it has a magnetic break system:

There will be a dial on the side and you adjust that.  I dont believe you can do anything on the inside if it has a magnetic break system.

ok ya i dont have the dial the sx has the dial. do i take side plate off on the left side of the reel not where the crank handle is right?

there is a thumb screw, once you loosen that the side cover will twist off.  then you can adjust the brakes, i use mine with just one brake on, two if it is really windy, i wouldnt recommend trying it with zero brakes, unless you like picking out backlashes!!

You want to make your Revo S cast like your SX?

Open the palm plate, turn off all the brakes then put the cover back on.

Your S reel will now backlash just like your SX.  In fact, just like the even more expensive STX.   :)

the instructions say to turn the brakes on/off in pairs but i turned them all off except for one and it works best that way for me.

Or you can do what Cart does.  Get someone else to cast it, then hand the rod to you.

i dont see how anyone can cast the revo S with all the brakes off.  i am no pro but i can cast a baitcaster pretty well, but i cant make one single cast without backlash when all brakes are off.

does it say to only cut 2 off?

I usually start any centrifugal brake reel with 2 on.  Brakes pushed outwards.  The rest are clicked in.  Make sure you turn the two on on opposing sides of the brake mechanism.

Ive heard the complaints in the SX but is it me or what? Ya it does free spool really fast and no you cant balance your bait like any other reel and get the same result, I chalk it up to great Swiss engineering, Within 15 minutes in the yard I had it figured out and since then it has slowly become one of my favorite reels. The more I throw it the more it I love it! and yes I do have Shimano's That I love as much, Mainly Curado's, Citica's and one Calcutta, The feel of the two are just different, my next reel at Christmas will Be a Citica E so I can check out the new Frame.

On my Revo S I have two brakes set, I have my Shimano's brakes set the same. I think my Citica throws a bit further but its sits on a Medium rod where my S sits on a MH. I may try to go to one brake like Red suggested and see if I can gain anything.

I think when most people cast the sx to hard. cause it has such a free spool youll end up with a back lash . next time your out ease up on your cast an i think that will help out an still have distance
