Any of you guys own or tried this reel? Looks like an updated version of the Code, but w/ a flipping switch. I guess it's close to the BPS KVD reel.

I want to know if this is a better Code reel than the original. I am looking to get the left hand version, I do like the flipping switch.

I guess I just want to know if this is a better quality reel than the original Code or the BPS KVD model.

IMHO........I don't like the looks or feel of the code series. They just don't do it for me. IMHO Quantum made a mistake by dumping the Accurist PT and CX series.

The difference from the Accurist PT & the CX was the line spool capacity...& color options on the CX, right?

I held the KVD model & it felt cheap in hand.  Last year the Code did not come in a left hand, which I prefer, & after reading reviews on both reels, I really did not want to waste my money on either.  I would like to get the Code Red if it's better than the other 2.

Also with the Codes, Quantum changed the spool support configuration that they have on the Accurist, Energy, Tours and others, from the 2 frame bearings to one frame and one on the spool itself...like some Shimanos.

According to some information I requested from Quantum, the KVD reel has an aluminum frame and gear side sideplate.  The Codes are some composite material frame and sideplates.  I prefer only aluminum framed reels for durability.  The old Accurist PT line had aluminum frames, PT grade bearings, hot sauce lubrication, and graphite sideplates.  From my research I would say that the Codes in no way compare to the old Accurist, the Accurist being better.  It is better to have 5 double shielded high quality bearings that 10 so-so bearings.  Bearing count should never be the end all thought on the quality of the reel.
