What kind of lure is this?

Featured Replies

I found this lure on an island in the middle of lake maitland near orlando. It has remnants of green paint. There are indentions where the eyes used to be. All the metal has completely rotted off. The top of the lure has visible letters, LIT. You can see little rusted stumps where the rings and hooks used to be. No rattle. Plastic. Line through the middle of the lure, like they melted the two halves of the lure together.

Thanks

Make sure it doesnt say "JIT"

Kinda looks like a Jitterbug to me w/o the lip and hooks.  Frog pattern maybe?

nice call

thanks

While wadding a pond last summer I looked down to see the head of a snake right between my legs. I t sent me running and screaming like a little girl. Turned out to be somebody's broken off Zara Spook. I wonder if that is how the "spook" got it's name.

Quite possibly. Good story LOL, when I pictured that I got a good chuckle ;)

Its defiantly a really old one. Now I am wondering if the lip just rotted off, or if the angler was an enthusiast and fished it w/o the lip... its still a mystery...

Zara Spook was originally called a Zaragosa Special because a comment was made it wiggled like the prostitutes in a certain red light district called Zaragosa Street. I think Zaragosa Street was in new Oreans. Later large eyes were painted on the bait and comment was made it looked "spooked" when the name was shortened down to the "Zara Spook".
