New Citica 200e

Featured Replies

Hey guys.  I recently started bass fishing a couple of years ago and i'm far behind in what products are out now for bass fishing.  I came from crappie, bream, and catfishing.  I purchased a Shimano Citica 200e the other day and bought an allstar graphite classic rod MH/FA 6'6.  Was the Citica a good choice for a reel?  I have little experience with a baitcaster. What are you guys thoughts about getting the MH rod?  I think i should have went with a medium.  I will mostly be fishing with rubber worms, lizards, spinnerbaits etc...

Your on the right track. The reel is probably the best buy in its class and the rod should fit your needs for soft plastics.

You won't find a better reel for less than $180.

Best reel for the price.

That's a great reel - just got mine today and I love it.  Hasn't seen water yet though...  I have it on a medium action rod and intend to throw cranks and light spinnerbaits on it.  It would be ok for weightless plastics, esp. the heavier senkos but not for heavier texas rigs (tip too soft).  Your setup would be fine for spinnerbaits and t-rigs for sure.  I had trouble on a different rig (Curado 200e/St. Croix MH) casting senkos.   The rod wouldn't load up and my casting was terrible.  I dropped to a medium and it was a lot better.  St. Croix are  a bit stiff compared to other makes in the same action though...  Best of luck.

Thanks guys.  I picked up the citica 200e for only $49 brand new on sale at a local shop.  I think I may pick up a medium action rod to try it out with the reel also and see which one I like most.  Now I'm trying to decide on which line to use also lol.

$49 for a new Citica E??? I'd go back and buy every one they had. That is absolutely insane and the shop is definitely taking a big loss...  Even at $119.99 it's a great deal for that reel.

The 200E is a winner. It will cast a light lure a mile on 10 lb floro.

Yup only paid $49 for the new citica E.  It was a 1 hour doorbuster sale the guy was doing and only 3 we're sold at that price.  I got the 3rd one or I would have bought all 3 of them.  The AllStar rods we're also on sale and I picked up the rod for $40, so I don't think I got hurt spending $90 on the whole combo lol.  I think I got pretty lucky.
