Telescopic rods?

Featured Replies

Ok so I have seen a few through some research, only problem is that I am not sure what this means. Does it just pull out like one of those cheap kids light saber toys? and Does it lose sensitivity? Why make a telescopic rod rather than just a one piece?

To aid in transport/storage.  Not many rod lockers can handle a 7'6 rod.

That is the reason figured why they would make them telescopic.

Read the reviews. Great for a specific purpose. Other than that, not so good.

You can't expect much for twenty bucks, other than convenience. Certainly not performance.

Wrong type of telescopic rod.

I am talking about the telescopic flipping sticks. To clear things up.

Thank you.  When he specified flipping stick, I came across that in a search.  Learned something new.

In my mind you don't lose sensetivity with a telescopic rod.  It is your line that is trasfering what the lure is doing back to your hands.  A telescopic rod is a little bit heavier than a one piece rod.  The only fisherman/women that I see with a one piece flipping stick are the ones running boats that have a 8' rod locker.  Mine is a 7' rod locker so a telescopic is a must for me.  Don't be worried about breaking one though, only in rare cases due to manufacturing or improper use.  All of them lock in pretty tight so they won't fall back into the rod while fishing.
