These rods are in the current Dicks flyer for $60 and I am thinking of picking one up.  I am looking for a crankbait rod.  Are any of you fishing the crankbait models? Or glass crankbait models?  If you have fished both would you recommend one over the other?  I am looking at the 7' M models in each.  Thanks

Are the crankbait rods on sale for $60? If so, that is a great deal. You would probably be happier with an Avid, but for $60, that is too good to pass up.

It says "St. Croix Premier or Triumph Rod"  so I figure that means anything they carry in the line.  They are also giving a free sweatshirt with the purchase.  I know the Avid is a great rod but for an extra hundred bucks, not sure I want to swing that.  

I understand on the $$$ difference. IF they are offering the Crankbait line for that price, I'd jump on it. I can say from owning a Premier (non-crank version) for 4 years, it's a fine rod, but isn't what I would immediately pick up for crankbaits. Great action, good backbone, but tip is a bit stiff, not what you necessarily want for cranks.

I have 2 7' Med action fast tip Premier rods and I like them for cranks.  They may be a bit stiff though a crank expert.  $60 is a steal

I think it means STARTING at 59.99 which is how much the triumphs cost because I saw this too. But I own a premier crankin rod and I love it. I have the medium power moderate or moderate fast action? Either way its very flexible and can cast the lures I want very well.

I use a premier med action for throwing cranks and I am very pleased!

I think your probably right on that starting price thing.  As to the cranking issue, I have mhm that does quiet well also.

I have a 70MHF Premier and like it a lot.  It does great with cranks, traps, jerks, senkos, and even light spinnerbaits.  They normally run $110 I think.

You nailed it.  I failed to be observant when I looked at the ad at 5am this morning before the GRE studying began.  I am still going to see what the deal is, gotta drive by it anyway.  Might as well let the monkey have at me.

I am not really a fan of the Premiers. I had a continuous problem with the guide inserts popping out of my premier cranking rods. I went through a couple of them. The one thing that I did appreciate was St Croix customer service. It was top notch. If you can get them on sale I would go for it, if not I would try another cranking stick. I never felt like the glass cranking stick had a true moderate action.

if my pocketbook  would only allow me a st croix premier  thats the rod i would buy.  i finally got far enough ahead "to me" up graded all my premiers to avid series and there is a difference. but the premier is a very good rod. sorry but i sold all my 8 premier rods
